Pay as you go cell phones gain momentum
Cell phones have become almost as necessary as air to many human beings; helping them to communicate with the entire world wherever and whenever. There is now a wide array of schemes provided by innumerable phone service carriers to choose from. The U.S.A is mainly dominated by yearly contract schemes while Europe gives its customers more pay as you go options. With intense competition from European and local (smaller) companies, the main carriers in the US have started proposing pay as you go options as well and over time have improved the choices available.
It is worth noticing the special attractions of pay as you go plans. Firstly, a customer is not bound by any monthly service contract. You are free to quit its service whenever you need is over. Remember the contract plans where you were penalized for an early termination of their deals? The biggest benefit of prepaid service is that the prepaid companies will never bother you about your credit score. It does not matter to them whether you have a good or bad credit since one has to pay for the plan in advance. Your financial capability is not an issue for these phone companies as long as you are able to pay for the minutes beforehand. In short, no credit check, no service fee or deposit, no termination fee and controlled expenditure makes pre-paid schemes lucrative. Companies have also adding various options including data, SMS, international calling… which were for a long time only reserved to contract clients.
While choosing a pay as you go scheme one should read all the instructions carefully as some schemes do not allow roll forward of prepaid minutes from the previous month. For example, if you buy 500 credits in a month and you still have 200 credits left then the balance should move on to your next month and should not expire. Barring few minor disadvantages like untimely running out of call credit, time limits of credit and probably slightly more expensive calls, the advantages of pre-paid schemes are numerous. It largely suits those who are cost-conscious, or are temporary visitors to a place or want to give their children a pay as you go plan.
There is a trend of consumers switching to prepaid cell phones, it may or may not be what you need but at the very minimum you owe yourself to check the various options available.
