    Company Overview

    Virgin Mobile Prepaid is part of the Virgin Group of Sir Richard Branson from the United Kingdom. Virgin Mobile first expanded in Australia and ventured onto American soil in 2002 with 250 million subscribers. Its wide nationwide coverage is due to the fact that their wireless service is powered by Sprint PCS Network.


    Prepaid Plans

    Virgin Mobile Prepaid has two plans for its subscribers: The Pay As You Go and Monthly Plans. Pay As You Go can be the basic per minute arrangements for 20 cents per minute or a minute bundle of 10 cents for $6.99 per month. Other minute bundle packs are for $20, $30 and $50 load cards.

     

    It has four monthly plans; $29.99, $34.99, $49.99, $59.99 and $ 79.99. Monthly plans for $49.99 and $59.99 offer unlimited calls during nights and weekends; the $79.99 is unlimited 24/7.


    Pros and Cons
    Virgin Mobile Prepaid offers many choices of prepaid plans to its subscribers. They have many features and rates become lower if subscribers choose the higher plans. They offer unlimited calls during nights and weekends as well as lower international calling rates. One thing that may draw customers away is their monthly maintaining balance of $20 per month. This amount may be too high for some and subscribers will lose their numbers and their accounts will be deactivated if they fail to do so.

    Minutes

    The basic per minute rate of Virgin Mobile Prepaid is 20 cents which is applied if subscribers opt for the basic per minute Pay As You Go plan or when subscribers exceed the number of minutes allotted in their plans. The Pay As You Go Minute packs of $20, $30 and $50 have per minute rates of 10 cents, 7.5 cents and 5 cents respectively.

    Monthly Plans have different minute bundles for anytime airtime as well as nights and weekends.


    Data

    Virgin Mobile Prepaid offers additional data plans to its prepaid plans that let subscribers access the web as well as enjoy music and video streaming. For the Pay As You Go plans, add off $5, $10 and $20 per month are good for 5, 20 and 50 megabytes per month respectively. Data plans for $10 and $20 provides unlimited VirginXL services.

    For its monthly plans, add-ons of $5 and $ 10 per month are good for 20 and 50 megabytes respectively, $10 monthly data plan also give unlimited access to VirginXL.


    Text and picture

    Virgin Mobile Prepaid has a basic 10 cents rate per text message, Email and instant messaging. For picture messages and videos, it will be for 25 cents. Same rates are charged for both messages sent and received.


    International

    Virgin Mobile Prepaid offers lower international rates, as low as 2 cents per minute. Refer to the company’s website for the exact international rate for each country. Standard airtime charges also apply. For Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Island, calls are considered as regular calls.


    Calling Features

    Features like call waiting, caller ID and voicemail can be enjoyed by Virgin Mobile subscribers for free.

     

    Long distance

    All calls within the US as well as Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands are charged just like regular calls.

    Minute expiration rules
