Jump Mobile Prepaid is one of the two wireless service
providers for Leap Wireless International, Inc. The company was founded in 2005
and based in San Diego, California. Jump Mobile Prepaid offers a low-cost
prepaid service focusing on the youth as its target market. The company also
tries to appeal to other market groups who simply don’t want to pay much from
their prepaid plans.
Prepaid Plans
Jump Mobile Prepaid plan offers a “pay as you go” service
plan that offers no charge for all incoming calls and text messages, both sent
and received within the coverage area. For outgoing calls, the plan will cost 10
cents per minute. Jump Mobile Prepaid plan is a local based service which
charges a different rate for those calls outside the coverage area of Jump
Mobile.
Pros and Cons
Jump Mobile Prepaid has lower rates compared to other
service provider. Their free text messages and free incoming calls are
beneficial for those on a tight budget. However, the company doesn’t have a very
large coverage area which will cost more for some who call or send messages
outside the coverage area. Hence, it is advisable for customers to check whether
they are within the coverage area for calls and messages to avoid these higher
rates.
Minutes
When calling within Jump Mobile Prepaid’s area anywhere in
the US (except Alaska), it will cost 10 cents per minute. For both inbound and
outbound calls outside the calling are, it will cost 69 cents per minute.
Data
Jump Mobile Prepaid doesn’t offer any internet and web
browsing using their prepaid phones. Instead, it has the Jump Downloads for
games, wallpapers, ring tones and information about entertainment and weather.
Specific prepaid phone compatibility also applies.
Text and Picture
Jump Mobile Prepaid doesn’t offer picture messaging.
Subscribers can send all incoming and outcoming text messages for free and
unlimited provided that these messages are sent and received within the coverage
area. Also, to take advantage of free and unlimited text messages, subscribers
are required to have a minimum balance in their accounts. If messages are sent
and received outside the coverage, it will cost 10 cents per message.
International text messages to Mexico will cost 10 cents and it will be 15 cents
for other countries.
International
There are only selected countries to which Jump Mobile
Prepaid subscribers can make international calls. These calls will be for 10
cents plus standard airtime rates.
Calling Features
Jump Mobile
Prepaid has calling features that include Caller ID, Voice Mail, Call Waiting
and Three-Way Calling. All calling features except for the Caller ID have
associated fees and charges.
Long Distance
Long Distance calls are already covered in Jump Mobile
Prepaid plan. As long as calls are made and received within the calling area, it
will only be for 10 cents a minute. Otherwise, it will be for 60 cents a minute.

Jump Mobile Prepaid subscribers can add funds to their
account by using their Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards online or by
calling their customer support. Airtime can be bought through authorized Jump
Mobile dealers.
Roaming charge
Roaming charge of 69 cents per minute is charged whenever
calls are made and received outside the calling area for Jump Mobile Prepaid
plan.

Minutes under Jump Mobile Prepaid plan will expire from one
week to 90 days. A $10 dollar fund will last for 7 days, $20 for 15 days, $30
for 30 days and $50 for 90 days.
